The Vassar W. Hurt Scholarship began in 1990 with a $250.00 contribution to the Virginia State University Foundation. From this small beginning, friends and classmates of Vassar made contributions that within the first year exceeded $10,000. Today we have provided 25 full scholarships, 28 partial, and books for 8 ROTC Cadets. Approximately $114.565 have been awarded in scholarships.
